Junior, English with a minor in linguistics

Hometown:

Brookhaven, MS

Why English?

I took an Intro to Linguistics class and loved it and wanted to learn so much more about it! When I realized MSU had a linguistics minor I knew I had to pursue it further. I am also interested in teaching English to speakers of other languages because of my Latino background.

Clubs and Organizations:

Latino Student Association

Awards and Scholarships:

I am a member of the Shackouls Honors College.

Favorite Books Reads for Class:

I have to say I found Benjamin Franklin’s autobiography actually quite interesting because it gave me so much insight into the kind of person he was. I also enjoyed Nella Larsen’s Passing because it taught me so much about societal norms in the 1920s, as well as the concept of “passing”, which was foreign to me before reading this work. It has amazing and deep characters that keep you reading all the way to the end.

Hobbies:

I enjoy photography, modeling, and I love keeping up with the latest pop culture gossip!
