The reading list will include fiction, non-fiction, and poetry by the likes of Baldwin, Cleaver,
Heller, Jones/Baraka, Mailer, Millet, Pynchon, Sexton, Snyder, Vonnegut, and Wolfe,
addressing such topics as war, race, drugs, mass culture, environmentalism, mystical experience,
manifestations of They, and several dimensions of what Henry James once called "the great
relation between men and women” (though some evidence suggests that this relation is not
always so great).
