EN 8523 Tudor and Stuart Drama (excluding Shakespeare)

Summer Session II, M-F 8-9:50
Bentley

Shakespeare did not write in a vacuum. He was surrounded by-and occasionally interacted withnumerous dramatists-playwrights such Ben Jonson, John Marston, George Chapman, John Webster, John Ford, and Philip Massinger, to name just a few. These dramatists were accomplished in their own right, and they produced some of the richest plays in the history English literature. This course will focus on a selection of their plays.
